How to Split a Restaurant Bill Without Downloading an App.

You do not need to make an entire group install the same app just to settle one dinner. A browser-based bill splitter can calculate the meal and give everyone a link to view the result.

Short answerUse a web-based bill splitter in your phone browser, add the people and receipt items, assign who had what, then share the finished breakdown by link. The other diners can open that link without installing anything.

See it in recEAT

From one messy bill to everyone’s actual share.

Add the receipt items, tap who had each dish, and recEAT turns it into a clean per-person breakdown you can share.

1. Open the bill splitter in your browser

A web app works directly from Safari, Chrome, or another mobile browser, so the organizer can start while the receipt is still on the table.

2. Add the people and receipt items

Enter the names, dishes, quantities, and prices. The organizer can do this without requiring the rest of the table to create accounts first.

3. Assign each item to the right people

Tap the people who had each item. Shared dishes can be assigned to multiple people so the cost is divided among those people only.

4. Share the finished breakdown

Once the totals are ready, send the read-only recEAT link to the group chat. Everyone can open it from their browser and check what they owe.

Why this works well for one-off groups

Dinner groups change. You may be eating with coworkers, cousins, travel friends, or teammates who do not want another permanent app on their phones. A web link keeps the process lightweight.
