Getting started

How to use recEAT.

recEAT turns one restaurant receipt into a clear per-person breakdown. You add the bill, choose who had what, and recEAT does the math.

Quick answerOpen recEAT, add the people and receipt items, assign each item to whoever had it, add shared charges, review everyone’s total, then send the finished recEAT to the group.

1. Start a new recEAT

Go to recEAT and choose Split a bill. You can start in the browser without downloading an app.

2. Add everyone in the meal

Add the names of the people who joined. These are the people you’ll assign receipt items to.

3. Add the restaurant items

Enter the dishes, drinks, quantities, and prices from the receipt. Keeping the receipt lines intact makes the final breakdown easier to check.

4. Pick who had what

Assign individual items to one person. For shared dishes, select everyone who shared that item and recEAT divides it among them.

5. Add service charge and shared charges

Add the restaurant service charge shown on the receipt so the final totals match what the table actually paid.

6. Preview everyone’s total

Before finishing, check the breakdown. This is the easiest time to fix a missing person, wrong assignment, or receipt item.

7. Finish and send the recEAT

Once everything looks right, finish the split and share the result with the group. Each person can see what they owe without redoing the calculation.
